Umtiti is one of the few players that still hasn't made his debut for Barça this season. Ronald Koeman doesn't count with the French center-back.
Barcelona tried to sell Umtiti last summer to reduce salary expenses, but in the end, the World Cup winner stayed in the Spanish side. The club will try again in the January transfer window as he does not count for Koeman. The player spoke about his current situation at the club for the very first time in a sincere interview with 'Mundo Deportivo'.
"I cried when I first met with the president. I don't speak a lot, but when I do I speak with my heart and in the end, that's what happened. To be completely honest, it was a really important talk for me. I had to speak up and make things clear. To make sure the president knows that I am fit, I feel great and that I want to help the club and the team. That was the only thing I wanted to say", said the French defender.
"He (Laporta) said that if I was fit, I had to prove it, and that is what I am going to do. He already knew me, he saw me fine and he knew I played a couple of good games. He told me: 'Samu, if you are in good form, you need to prove it and then, you may get your chances.", he explained.
