After a 1-0 win over Elche on Sunday, Diego Simeone stated that Atletico Madrid is still looking for an attacker.
Atletico Madrid battled to back-to-back opening-day victories for the fourth time under Simeone, thanks to Angel Correa's third goal in two games at the start of the new season.
The substitute striker's goal in the 39th minute was his eighth in his past ten appearances in all competitions, after scoring seven in his previous 63 for the LaLiga winners.
For the hosts, Luis Suarez came on after the hour mark, but Atletico is still looking for an attacker, with a rumored deal for Dusan Vlahovic recently falling through.
When asked about the forward problem, Simeone said, "When we create a squad, we consider having two players in each position."
“If it cannot arrive in the end, we will seek a solution as we have always done.”
“First and foremost, he is playing where he feels most comfortable,” Simeone said of Correa's improved form.
“He is swift, energetic, and spins better than anyone in the center of the assault. And now he has greater assertiveness, which gives him confidence and peace of mind. This gives him more self-assurance.”
