Zinedine Zidane has been told to get out of his “comfort zone” and land the Manchester United job, by former France boss Raymond Domenech.
Real Madrid officially announced the departure of Zidane in May, despite claiming he was “one of the great icons” of the LaLiga club. He steered Los Blancos to three successive Champions League triumphs, but left over the summer after a difficult campaign.
The 49-year-old former World Cup winner remains out of work, but he has been linked with shock moves to Newcastle and Manchester United in recent weeks.
Spanish TV programme El Chiringuito claimed United had picked up the phone to call Zidane after Cristiano Ronaldo suggested it.
Gary Neville has since endorsed the move, but it’s understood that United’s boardroom stance is to support the under-fire Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
