On Wednesday evening at Windsor Park in Belfast, Chelsea will face Villarreal in the UEFA Super Cup final.
The UEFA Super Cup may not be the most desired trophy on offer, but Chelsea and Villarreal will both be hoping to start the new season with European silverware.
Villarreal, on the other hand, is preparing to make their UEFA Super Cup debut on Wednesday after winning their first major European championship last season.
The Champions League champions are the heavy favorites in this match. They appear to have completed the gigantic Romelu Lukaku transfer as well, and they will undoubtedly be a major contender for domestic and European titles in the coming season.
Lukaku, on the other hand, is almost certain to miss the Villarreal match.
Thomas Tuchel will also be without key first-team regulars Cesar Azpilicueta, Thiago Silva, Jorginho, and Mason Mount, who led the Blues to Champions League victory after only half a season at the Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea and Villarreal will play each others for the first time in a professional football match in the UEFA Super Cup in 2021.
Villarreal will not be in the best of spirits heading into the meeting after losing all six of their pre-season friendlies. In the last two exhibition games against Leeds (a 2-2 tie) and Leicester City, they have given up as many as five goals (a 3-2 loss).
Both clubs allowed far too many goals in preseason, and we doubt either will be able to keep things tight at the back here.
Given the fact that Tuchel will be without the services of some of his key players, betting on Chelsea to win at 1.72 odds is a waste of money.
We predict 2.5 Over in Chelsea vs Villarreal match
