Manchester United captain Harry Maguire has reassured supporters that he 'will be back on the pitch soon,' as he continues his recovery from a calf injury sustained against Aston Villa prior to the international break.
The 28-year-old missed England's set of World Cup 2022 qualifiers in October, having been ruled out of the clashes after pulling up injured on September 25. He limped off the field with a calf injury, and it was soon revealed that he would miss 'a few weeks' of action.
Maguire has been afforded the international break to step up his recovery, and while his return to the pitch remains a little way off, he is in high spirits over his progress. Speaking about the knock, the England international admitted he has yet to train with his teammates, but will be 'back soon'.
“Yeah it's getting there,” Maguire began.
“I still haven't trained yet with the squad, but I am getting better, I am progressing as I should be. It is obviously a frustrating injury for me to get, but I am progressing and I will be back on the pitch soon.”
