Arsenal beat Aston Villa 3-1 at the Emirates Stadium, with Thomas Partey scoring his first Premier League goal.
Mikel Arteta's side also had goals from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Emile Smith Rowe, who were a class above their opponents for the entire 90 minutes and could have won by a larger margin.
After hitting the crossbar earlier, the Ghana international headed in Emile Smith Rowe's corner for his first goal for the Gunners.
After a lengthy video assistant referee review, Arsenal were awarded a penalty for a Matt Targett foul on Alexandre Lacazette near the end of the first half. Former Arsenal goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez blocked Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's penalty, but the Gabon attacker netted the rebound from close range.
Villa improved after a dreadful first half, but Arsenal's third goal came from Smith Rowe 11 minutes into the second half. He gained possession of the ball in his own half and finished the move with a deflection and a post.
