Ronaldo signed a contract with Al-Nassr on Friday afternoon December 30, 2022 effectively signaling the end of his top-level playing career but ensuring he is extremely well compensated as his retirement approaches.
The contract, which is expected to last until 2025, brings an end to the 37-year-brief old's free agency period after his contract with Manchester United was terminated last month.
Cristiano Ronaldo is expected to earn close to $200 million yearly from this deal which will last for 2 years. Not bad at all for a player his age and this marks the biggest salary ever in football.
I'm excited for a new experience in a different league and a different country, and Al Nassr's vision is very inspiring. I'm very excited to join my teammates and contribute to the team's success, Ronaldo said.
In announcing the deal, the club tweeted: History in the making. This is a signing that will not only inspire our club to achieve even greater success but inspire our league, our nation and future generations, boys and girls to be the best version of themselves. Welcome @Cristiano to your new home @AlNassrFC.
