Man Utd exploring significant Old Trafford upgrades

Manchester United have held talks over some significant improvements at Old Trafford, with a capacity of over 80,000 potentially on the horizon.

Old Trafford has not seen major development work since back in 2006 and has recently attracted plenty of unwanted attention from fans for its deteriorating condition, including longstanding leaks in the roof of the Sir Bobby Charlton Stand.

Co-chairman Joel Glazer confirmed late in September that he was aware of the issues and revealed that 'early-stage planning work' for both Old Trafford and the club's Carrington training ground was already underway.

According to BBC Sport, exploratory talks have been held with a number of potential developers, with United keen to hear as many ideas as possible for improvements to the iconic Old Trafford.

Proposals have included adding an extra 6,000 seats, taking the stadium's capacity to over 80,000.
